The Pretenders Ask Diehard Fans Who Repeatedly Stand In Front Row To Give Local Fans A Chance

While the Pretenders are currently touring the UK, the band has warned fans who repeatedly stand in the front row for “multiple nights” that they could possibly be asked to move in order to make room for “local faces.” Singer Chrissie Hynde explained her frustration in an Instagram post on Wednesday (October 16), writing that while it has been a “real pleasure” for the band to play in front of “fantastic audiences,” the “whole point” of touring for the band is “playing to a different audience every night.” Hynde continued, “We look forward to seeing local faces. This is what makes it new for us every night. We appreciate those of you who follow us and buy tickets for multiple nights, so please don’t be offended if we request you to move out of the front row. All we are asking is that you give the local fans a chance.” The Pretenders’ UK tour continues through November 1. (Consequence of Sound)

Former Ozzy Osbourne Guitarist Jake E. Lee “Doing Surprisingly Well” After Being Shot In Las Vegas

After being shot near his Las Vegas home early Tuesday (October 13), former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Jake E. The musician was in his driveway after taking his dog for a walk when he was repeatedly hit with gunshots. He was then taken to a nearby hospital where he was placed in an intensive care unit. Lee is “expected to fully recover,” according to a statement from his representative. Lee shared an additional update on Facebook, where he wrote, “I’m tired, but I feel relatively very lucky. One bullet went through my forearm, one through my foot, and one in the back which broke a rib and damaged a lung. Priority now is to keep draining my lung, then we can pull that tube out and concentrate on the more minor injuries.” (Consequence of Sound)

Former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Jake E. Lee was shot multiple times in Las Vegas on Tuesday. He's currently in a hospital ICU, but is expected to fully recover from the random incident, which occurred while he was taking his dog for a walk early in the morning. Osbourne stated his shock at the incident in a statement Tuesday night. “It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Zach Bryan Reveals He Still Has “Really Bad Imposter Syndrome” As A Musician

During a recent conversation with Bruce Springsteen for Rolling Stone’s Musicians on Musicians series, Zach Bryan disclosed that he still has a hard time thinking of himself as a real musician. Springsteen asked him when he first started considering himself a “serious songwriter,” and Bryan admitted that he still doesn’t. “To this day I have really bad imposter syndrome,” he said. “I’d go home and I would write, and I never in a million years thought I would become a songwriter because I never thought I had the talent." Bryan dismissed his own songs in comparison to other music legends, saying “There’s no way people enjoy these like they would enjoy a [Bob] Dylan song or a Springsteen song.” Springsteen went on to praise Bryan’s tunes “Open the Gate” and “Revival,” calling them, “songs you’re gonna be singing till you’re old as me.” (People)

Nandi Bushell Performs Foo Fighters’ “Learn To Fly” With Taylor Hawkins’ Drumsticks

In a new clip for Drumeo, teenage drumming sensation Nandi Bushell performed Foo Fighters‘ “Learn to Fly” with drumsticks that were given to her by the late Taylor Hawkins. The clip recreates Bushell’s celebrated performance of “Learn to Fly” at the tribute for Hawkins at Wembley Stadium back in 2022. In the video, Bushell shared the story of how she originally got the drumsticks, back when Hawkins gave them to her when she was only 11-years-old and she appeared onstage alongside the Foo Fighters at their Los Angeles show in 2021. “Taylor’s amazing, he’s the nicest person,” said the now 14-year-old Bushell. “He gave me these sticks, which are the sticks I performed with at Wembley. It was a bittersweet moment, because of course it’s amazing to play Wembley Stadium, but it was why I was playing there.” (Consequence of Sound

Talking Heads Reunite To Introduce Their Own Jeopardy! Category

On Tuesday night (October 15th), Talking Heads got back together again in order to present a Jeopardy! category dedicated to the band. The clues were rather straightforward for anyone with decent knowledge of the legendary new wave rock band, including the venue where Talking Heads played their first show, the director of Stop Making Sense, and naming the group’s biggest hit. This game show appearance continues a year-long reunion of sorts for the band, with the quartet showing up together at a series of celebratory events tied to the 40th anniversary of their historic concert film, Stop Making Sense, which was released back in 1984. In September of 2023, all four members of Talking Heads appeared onstage together for the first time since 2002 for a Stop Making Sense panel at the Toronto International Film Festival, which led to an unsuccessful attempt by Live Nation to get the band to play a reunion set at Coachella 2024. Alex Van Halen Reveals That Ozzy Osbourne And Chris Cornell Were In Running To Front Van Halen

During a new interview with Rolling Stone to promote his forthcoming memoir, Brothers, Alex Van Halen disclosed that both Ozzy Osbourne and Chris Cornell were once considered as possible replacement frontmen for Van Halen. Osbourne was approached to potentially lead the band in 2001, following the end of Gary Cherone’s run in 1999. Alex revealed that he and his brother Eddie discussed a possible Ozzy-fronted Van Halen album with Sharon Osbourne, but the launch of MTV’s The Osbournes reality show dashed those plans.

“Yes, we were discussing it,” Ozzy confirms. “It is something that if it had come to fruition, would have been phenomenal. Eddie and Alex were great friends of mine for a very long time and it’s a regret of mine that we never got it together.” Alex also recalled a jam session involving himself, Eddie, and Cornell shortly before the Soundgarden singer’s tragic death in 2017, when they briefly considered him for the Van Halen frontman role. Second Sphere Venue Set To Open In Abu Dhabi

On Tuesday (October 15), Sphere Entertainment Co. announced the location of its second Sphere entertainment venue will be in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi’s Sphere will be a 20,000-capacity venue that will feature the same technological advancements as the original Las Vegas Sphere, which opened in 2022 with a celebrated residency by U2. The Abu Dhabi Sphere plans to host concerts and other special events year-round, much like the Las Vegas Sphere, which has featured high-profile shows by Phish, Dead & Company, and the Eagles.

Sphere Entertainment Co. originally planned to open their second venue in London, but mayor Sadiq Khan shot down those plans due to high energy concerns and the “significant light intrusion” it would bring to the city. “The vision for Sphere has always included a global network of venues, and today’s announcement is a significant milestone toward that goal,” said James L. Dolan, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Sphere Entertainment. “We are proud to collaborate with DCT Abu Dhabi to develop Sphere in their city.” (Consequence of Sound)
